Veteran Employment and Career Guidance

In 2015, the Governor recommended and the Legislature approved the creation of a Veterans Coordinator position within the Division of Human Resource Management. The position was established to develop a statewide Veteran hiring program and support Veterans interested in employment with the State of Nevada.

The Veteran Hiring Program provides individualized assistance by:

  • Identifying State job openings that align with a Veteran’s skills, education, and experience.
  • Answering questions about State employment and hiring processes.
  • Reviewing resumes and helping Veterans accurately represent their qualifications.
  • Assisting Veterans with State job applications and employment resources.

Program staff also collaborates with nonprofit organizations and local, state, and federal agencies to strengthen connections between Veterans and available resources throughout Nevada.

Important: This is not a job placement service. Employment assistance does not guarantee an interview, job offer, or appointment.

  • Sharing knowledge about the State workplace and available resources.
  • Providing peer support during the transition into civilian employment.
